The mission of Jefferson County Historical Society is to protect, preserve and promote the history of Jefferson County and to
enrich its future.
ABOUT
THE ORGANIZATION
Jefferson County Historical Society is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that
provides programs for children and adults year round.For the past 11 years, summer programs for elementary
children have been held years in a one-room schoolhouse, Medlen School, on old
Turkey Creek owned by the historical society. They also operate the Hiwan
Homestead Museum in partnership with Jefferson County Open Space. The Jefferson County Historical Societyserves the Evergreen, Kittredge, Indian
Hills, Bergen Park, Mount Vernon, Idledale, and El Rancho areas.
