MISSION STATEMENT
The
mission of
The Ladies Sewing
Circle
helps
low-income women in Denver
to be self-sufficient by learning to make
and sell products.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Ladies Sewing Circle was started in
1999 under the name Marycrest Sewing Circle. Rose Chavez, one of the founders,
provides sewing lessons. The sewing machines, supplies, and fabric are donated
by a variety of resources. In 2003
Rose received The Everyday Hero award given by Channel 7 for her work. The
women of The Ladies' Sewing Circle sell their products at the Denver Farmer's Market
and various craft fairs. The project is recently expanding into Mexico and
other locations.
