MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of One Mother is to empower women in developing countries to create sustainable income via fair-trade wages.  We then reinvest profits into local women's health and empowerment programs.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

One Mother is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We teach women the traditional Indian art of Kantha quilting using recycled saris. ONE MOTHER'S innovative model for empowering women combines free-market thinking with great respect for the traditions of the women we serve. ONE MOTHER purchases the quilts from the women at an agreed-upon fair-trade price, sells them to the public, and reinvests the profits in health and empowerment programs provided by The Tambaram Community Development Society (TCDS), a non-profit and non-governmental organization legally organized in the state of Tamil Nadu, India in 1985.
